Shani Miller is a writer, mom, and US Air Force veteran. Her writing explores the complexities of war and the mystery of suffering and beauty. While in the military, Shani deployed multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan and has supported operations throughout Northern Africa and Asia. She worked as an Air Advisor to Iraqi helicopter pilots during the push towards Mosul in 2016 and made many friends along the way.
Shani currently is working on a memoir focused on losing a sense of belonging after returning from deployments and then finding that belonging again through travel and the birth of her children. Her own healing journey from PTSD shapes how she sees the world and inspires her to help others. Shani and her husband, Nathanael, are on a journey to discover art, the body, and the world.
