"A Veteran's Search for Truth" explores Shani's journey as an Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran visiting the War Remnants Museum in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam. As Shani encounters the museum’s portrayal of America’s role in the Vietnam War, she humbly reflects on her own nation’s bombings, torture, and use of Agent Orange. This museum is a launching pad to her own memories as an intelligence officer in Afghanistan months earlier.
War is not black and white, and this essay shows her own grappling to understand truth in it all.
